Materials

At TBT we manufacture our products in a large range of high quality materials. Whether solid hardwoods or the latest man made products we have the knowledge to combine them to make your design a reality.

TBT Joinery have built up excellent relationships with suppliers over the years, from timber merchants to haulage companies, giving us the peace of mind that deliveries will be on time allowing production to continue on schedule – something that is very important to us.  We try to source materials from local suppliers wherever possible, not only does this help the local economy we like to think we are doing our bit for the environment too.

Below are some of the materials that we use.

Timber and Venners

Timber & Veneers

All the timber we use is purchased from suppliers who have chain of accreditation meaning that the wood is sourced from well managed renewable forests. We use Oak, Walnut and Ash, both veneers and solid timbers, widely in a variety of projects from  reception counters to seating.

Corian

Corian®

TBT Joinery is a registered fabricator of Corian and other solid surfaces. These materials are available in a multitude of stunning colour variations and its properties allow for thermoforming, engraving and seamless finishing.  It is an ideal choice for hospitals due to the non-porous surface, schools where it will take a knock in high traffic environments – and should damage occur it can be repaired with ease.  The same applies to projects such as Yo Sushi where Corian was used in the food preparation and serving areas.

Laminates

Laminates

Over the last decade the face of laminates has changed dramatically with access to thousands of beautiful colours and patterns, including woodgrains and textured metallic surfaces.  Formica, Polyrey, Egger to name but a few.  We are being constantly introduced to new laminate products such as leather, stone effect and also bespoke orders where clients can choose to have laminate created to their specification.  Laminates are used widely for postforming with items such as IPS panels, worktops with integrated upstands, and for bespoke projects such as the curved feature seating at Parkwood Academy.

Lacquers and finishes

Lacquers and finishes

Where possible we use water based lacquer and priming products for wood finishes.  The use of Class ‘O’ fire rated lacquers is now becoming a major part of our work especially in schools and public buildings along with UV stabilised polishes for such things as reception areas and shopping malls.

Glass and Acrylics

Glass and Acrylics

Glass of all kinds is widely used in our projects on items such as reception counters, screens, and on fire doors.  Glass can be plain, sand blasted, back painted in any colour to include company logos and designs giving dramatic and beautiful effects when combined with back lighting.  Acrylics are also available in many colours and can be used to form curves for such things as front of house stands in restaurants and when backlit make a stunning visual impact for customers.
